“A pastoral counselor…is a religiously (and psychologically) integrated person…who approaches others with a sense of mystery…along with an ability to enter into communion with others in a therapeutic alliance…with the goal of reconciliation and personal religious insight.” (Pastoral Counseling, Barry K. Estadt p1).
The Mission
The
Association for Pastoral Counseling and Supervision is intended to provide support, supervision and education for pastoral counselors, addiction counselors, parish pastors, and others who perform pastoral care and counseling. All persons called to this field will be given equal opportunity for consideration and training. It is our intent to assist towards their preparation with professional supervision in their active ministries. The end result is intended to provide verification of qualifications through certification, with the expectation that this experience will be a building block towards professional growth. Utilizing the “world wide web” will provide the convenience of support to qualified persons, even in the most remote locations of the world.
